We believe Food is Medicine works best when it’s practical, accessible, and rooted in the community. Our goal is to bring evidence-based Food is Medicine programs to Alabama in a way that improves health outcomes and strengthens local food systems.
Where We're Starting
We’re beginning with models that are proven effective and possible to launch without a large facility:
Medically Tailored Groceries (MTG): Grocery boxes designed around specific health conditions like diabetes or heart disease.
Produce Prescriptions (PPRx): Partnering with clinics so patients can “fill a prescription” for fruits and vegetables, often picked up during medical appointments.
Where We're Going
As we build partnerships and secure funding, we plan to expand into:
Medically Tailored Meals (MTM): Fully prepared meals aligned with clinical guidelines, produced in collaboration with local kitchens or caterers.
How We Work:
Partner with Clinics & Providers – We connect with healthcare teams to identify patients who can benefit from Food is Medicine programs.
Engage Food Partners – We work with farms, food banks, and local grocers to source fresh, affordable food.
Provide Education & Support – Each food package comes with recipes, tips, and short lessons that help patients build lasting habits.
Measure Outcomes – We track changes in health markers (like A1C or blood pressure) and food access to show real impact.
We are seeking clinic, farm, and community partners to launch a Food Is Medicine pilot in North Alabama. If you are interested in collaborating, reach out today:
